“Trannies Thrown Under The Bus”, A New “FILM” by Israel Luna

26 Mar
Ok, here it goes, I was wrong.
1. I was wrong for believing that Israel Luna genuinely supported the Transsexual community.
2. I was wrong for believing Israel’s motivation behind the film “Ticked Off Trannies With Knives” was to empower the Transsexual community.

3. I was wrong for being a sucker and putting myself on the front lines defending Israel’s character and intentions.

4. I was wrong for dismissing legitimate concerns from rational and valued friends who objected to the content of “Ticked Off Trannies With Knives”.

Let the chorus of a thousand Transsexuals begin;
“I TOLD YOU SO, I TOLD YOU SO, I TOLD YOU SO!”

Now that I got those painful admissions out of the way, let me start by saying; This is not written with glee. It is written with disappointment. I like Israel Luna (very much),  and I still fully support the right for his movie to be seen, and voice to be heard. Hopefully this will enlighten and encourage his thoughts on the issues concerning the Transsexual Community to evolve, and in the process redeem his character in my eyes (if he even values my opinion).

Thursday afternoon as I was plotting The Queenz Of Media’s future domination of the planet (go ahead and laugh), I decided to turn off Judge Judy and instead listen to Israel Luna’s online radio show on RationalBroadcasting.org, called “The 10%”. I listened and giggled for the first 8 minutes and 44 seconds of the show as they memorialized Elizabeth Taylor. Then the discussion took a very sharp turn to a topic about a recent lawsuit against NYC by three trans citizens: Joann Prinzivalli, Patricia Harrington, and Sam Berkly, who is a female To male Transsexual. The lawsuit is an effort to change the policy in NYC that prevents Transsexual people who have transitioned with out opting for sexual reassignment surgery to have their birth documentation changed.

(to read the full story about this law suit click the link below)

http://www.advocate.com/News/Daily_News/2011/03/22/Trans_Lawsuit_Challenges_NYC_Surgery_Requirement/

The factual debate over this topic is legitimate, and reasonable people can disagree while maintaining their personal integrity. Unfortunately, that is not the discussion that took place between Israel Luna, and his guest hosts, John De Los Santos and Allyn Carrell. John De Los Santos is a gay ballerina and Allyn Carrell is an actress who has appeared in gay themed films. ( I used the word “ballerina” for a reason that will make sense in a moment)

Before I discuss the vulgar conversation that took place between Israel and his guests, let me lay out the rational and factual reasons behind this law suit and the need for REAL Transsexual people, like me, who don’t opt for SRS to have our Identification and birth documentation changed.

1. This need is not an effort to “revise history” or erase our past, it is to correct history and realize our future. Despite the comments made in the video conversation above, we do not “choose” to be transsexual, just like gay men don’t choose to be homosexual. There are extensive ground breaking scientific studies and preliminary results showing that Transsexualism is inherent genetically and neurologically. The following links are articles further explaining the groundbreaking research and results:

a. Oxford Journals published neurological studies

http://brain.oxfordjournals.org/content/131/12/3132.full.pdf

b. BBC News “Transsexual genetic link identified”

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/7689007.stm

One more time. If we are born this way, we aren’t revising our birth history we are correcting it.

2. Without this correction taking place, the ability for Transsexual women and men to become contributing members of society is greatly limited. Employment and education are the great equalizers in our society. Transsexual women are the most marginalized citizens in our country when it comes to obtaining both, and in many cases, it’s because our identification and birth documentation do not line up with our visible gender. Denying these corrections will only prevent Transsexual people from realizing their future and full equality in our society. I would think this point would be common sense to most.

3. Yes, John De Los Santos, Transsexual people like to obtain passports and travel abroad with out being put through humiliating scrutiny, or denied access on a plane because we are told “you are not allowed to wear a disguise on an airplane”. That’s right, many trans people have been turned away because their required identification did not match their visible gender.

4. It is NOT unprecedented to have this information changed. Every state and many localities have varying policies regarding this matter.  The complications surrounding this particular law suit have to do with not having surgery to alter your genitalia. Many if not most Transsexual women do not have SRS , some desire it, other’s don’t.  The lack of surgical status does not alter our genetic predisposition nor our visible gender. It especially does not invalidate our “realness” as Transsexual women.
a. General guidelines currently used when changing your birth documentation from Andrea James’ extremely informational site TSROADMAP.COM.
This is the perfect time to get into details of  the  ignorant, factually inaccurate, and offensive discussion that took place on Israel’s show.
I ask you to please watch the video again and pay close attention to these key phrases ,and especially the expressions of the person speaking (pay close attention to Miss De Los Santos).
1. “I don’t agree with her” by John De Los santos
2.  ”I think i’m with you” by Israel Luna
3.  ”Other than what, getting a passport (snarky spitting sound) What Does It Matter?” by John De Los Santos
4. “No matter what kind of surgeries she’s had, no matter what she wears, or who she’s in a relationship with, You used to be a MAN, you were born a MAN. by John De Los Santos
5.  ”Sorry Charlie, I don’t agree with that” by John De los Santos
6.  ”I don’t think she’ll win that though” by John De Los Santos
7. “You’d like to think she wouldn’t” by Allyn Carrell
8.  *sound of disgust* by John De Los Santos
9.  ”I don”t know her situation, IT REALLY DOESN’T MATTER, I don’t agree with that” by John De Los Santos *blank stare* by me.
10.  ”Snowballing into a lot of other stuff” by John De Los Santos (interesting choice of words)
11.  ”We’re getting to be a LITTLE more open minded to these transgender issues” by Israel Luna (thanks for being a little more open minded)
12.  ”silliness” by Allyn Carrell
13.”she needs to get over it, she needs to get over it” by John De Los Santos
14. “She lives in a country where she can have her sex change, and be legally recognized as the sex she CHOOSES, and live the life she CHOOSES, THAT’S ENOUGH”.
15. “Right” by Israel luna
16. “I can’t say that’s enough because I’m Not fighting for it, but that’s Ridiculous” by John De Los Santos
17. “She hasn’t technically had the surgery yet” by Israel luna (notice John De Los Santos extraordinary look of disgust)
18. “She sees her self as a woman” by Israel Luna
19. “Well She’s Crazy,(laughter) Sorry that’s NUTTY,” by John De Los Santos (notice a pattern here)
20. “Obscene” by the producer off camera comparing our life to the lies and distortions of George W. Bush. *blank stare*
21. “She isn’t even a true Transgender yet” by the one and only John De Los Santos.
Most if not all of the above quotes from the video discussion have been and are currently being used against the Gay community to marginalize them and prevent them from gaining equality in this country, where you can legally have sex and “snowball” semen or vaginal fluid with someone of the same sex. Now the gay community has co-opted those ignorant talking points to marginalize the Transsexual community. I ask, isn’t that enough? What more do you want? Now you want to get married? This could potentially SNOWBALL into incestuous marriages and the legalization of pedophilia. You’re not a real man!  You have a swish, a lisp,  you wear tights and a tutu as you pirouette and plie’ across a stage.  One more time, WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT…GET OVER IT.
Get my drift?

I know, imagine changing an historic document. I suppose that means we shouldn’t have amended the constitution all those times to…oh, I don’t know…allow women to vote and abolish slavery. It’s a Goddamn calamity.

    • gus klein March 26, 2011 at 1:21 am #

Wow. How tragic and unenlightened. I’ve met people in this town who insist they were never (male) and insist their medical procedures were corrective in nature. This is no different than “Dr Laura” calling us biological deviations from the norm. I suggest you read an article on the “super-organism”. This is equivalent to people born with imperforate anus post op are officially never bottoms. To not have a person on the panel to represent the former is plain opinionated if not poor “journalism”.

      exactly.

Grace, I’m to much of a lady to say “I told you so”…

I just can’t get past the thought that documentation changes are so basic to trans stuff, like right up there with taking hormones and getting surgeries. The fact that Israel, who is a reasonably informed guy was TOTALLY clueless about it and the reason why it has to be done just amazes me.

I’ve often said that most of the education trans women have to do is with gay men. I’ve also long thought that it’s the place where we get the least return on our investment.

I am beginning to agree, my eyes are open.

Well, wish I could say this surprises me but it really doesn’t. I am sure I’ll get flamed for this but not like I much care. Gays and lesbians are some of the most intolerant people I have ever met. No, this is not all, but enough for it to be noteworthy. I have witnessed gays and lesbians be intolerant to bisexuals, transsexuals, the less-than-perfect (in terms of looks and/or bodies), AND the rights of heterosexuals to not like or accept Gays/Lesbians. And when it comes to the T community they are often treated like an afterthought at best.

Irony of irony, they do all of this while screaming from the highest moral mountain top: “We demand to be accepted!” Oh and for the record, before you all dismiss my point because I am a “breeder”, I am actually bi and I absolutely believe others have a right to their beliefs and/or disagree with how I live my life. What they dont have a right to do is impose their beliefs on me.

Sadly its this hypocrisy that is the reason I rarely support gay and lesbian issues. Sorry, and as much as it is semi-self-defeating to my interests as well, I just cannot support any group that effectively says you must tolerate us, but we do not have to tolerate you (by words or deeds). Maybe I am just biased because of my support for the T community. Maybe I am merely self-loathing. Anyone there is my 2 cents for a 5 dollar cup of coffee. Great calling them out on it Grace. Flame on.

Hi, Grace…thank you for listening to the show and blogging about what you heard. My show is about different opinions and in this one, I had a different one from you and others have.

I feel that a transperson changing their identification (id, license, passport, etc.) is a must to do. It helps with job interviews, those embarrassing harassments in airport lines, but most importantly it shows the sex you feel you are inside…but to me, a birth certificate is an official document issued to record someone’s birth. If someone is born a certain sex and the certificate states that, then that’s what happened.

If you later in life decide to physically change your sex to match your inner being, then that’s wonderful…but that doesn’t change the biological sex you were born.

Thanks for listening to my show. I’d love to have you on and discuss it! Let me know, thanks!

Hi Grace, Thank you very much for bringing Israel’s Luna-cy on the issue to light. I was shocked at how dismissive he and his guest-hosts were, of the whole issue.

The biggest problem we face is that the assumptions of leading lights in the medical profession in 1965 are reflective of the attitudes of many in society. They are just not aware of the advances in the scientific understanding of the genetic predispositions and ontological developments that cause our brains to follow one blueprint while our genital duct development followed the other blueprint. At birth, the only external evidence leads obstetricians and parents alike to misclassify us, on our birth certificates and in parental and societal expectations. The initial assignment is wrong – even though the technique of eamining a newborn’s external genitalia works 99.9% of the time or better. For that 0.1% or less, the initial assignment is wrong.

How hard it is for smug cissexual people to assume that because the assignment is right for them, and nearly all the time, that it must be right even for us.

Being at the leading edge of the curve of getting society to accept a reality that science has uncovered that challenges their “common sense” assumptions can sometimes be painful. Copernicus and Galileo are examples, but even today, there is resistance to Darwin, there is resistance to modern cosmology, and there is resistance to this.

Up until the early 1800′s, society classified whales as fish, and bats as birds. There was a celebrated lawsuit in New York City, Samuel v. Judd, which pitted the testimony of sea captains and preachers, against the testimony of the leading cientists of the day. The whale was held to be a fish, in this case over the taxation of fish oil. But only a year later, the legislature, recognizing the science, changed the law.

We are at that kind of crossroads today – and the ignorance and intolerance coming from Israel and his friends, who should be among our allies, can only be combatted with better education. Luna-cy it might be, but soon, we can hope that not every cissexual person will be a cissexist as well.

Thanks again for your blog post, and for bringing this t my attention!

      • Hexydezimal March 26, 2011 at 9:24 pm #

[Hi, Grace…thank you for listening to the show and blogging about what you heard. My show is about different opinions and in this one, I had a different one from you and others have.]

It’s more that you are an offensive ignoramus than that you have an opinion. I shall endeavor to explain.

The sum of people is not their genitals, even where so-called biological sex is involved. Your example is like saying that an intersex person who was assigned the wrong surgical sex by a doctor at birth (when they had ambiguous genitalia) has to live with that mistake for the rest of their lives. Birth ‘history’ is not inviolate, simply because they could have been wrong.

Saying, “She needs to get over it because she can have a sex-change here and that’s enough.” Yeah? Know those countries that persecute and kill gays? You live in a country where you aren’t persecuted and killed… get over it. Know how Iran sex reassigns homosexuals for being homosexual? Doesn’t happen here, better get over it. See how terminally stupid that logic is?

You can get a job and find shelter every day without needing to worry about much discrimination, jackass. I do not think transsexuals should ‘get over’ things, I think you should wake up to the real world.

      • Zoe Brain March 26, 2011 at 10:58 pm #

So I gather Mr Luna is against Adopted people having revised birth certificates too? I mean, just because that means that their identity documents will match, and is done for simple human decency and common humanity doesn’t mean it’s not “historical revisionism”. After all, neither he nor his guests are adopted, so why should he care?

Are there any other laws Mr Luna would like to see repealed? Because Trans people won for themselves the right to have their birth certificates changed as far back as 1955 in some states. All but three explicitly allow it, and only one, Tennessee, explicitly makes it illegal.

The problem with NYC is that the city is not acting in accordance with the law, requiring completely arbitrary additional preconditions such as psychological evaluations not actually authorised by any legislation whatsoever.

The law itself is not consistent with modern medical science, but even worse, it’s now being actually violated because of blatant transphobia.

I congratulate Mr Luna on starring in a film clip that will become far better known than any of his “creative” works.

  6. Andy Johnathan March 26, 2011 at 3:48 pm #

Ugh, typical gay cissplaining. I encounter soooo many cis gay people who say transphobic crap like that, and then they call themselves trans allies! With allies like that who needs enemies.

Also, the people speaking sound like over privileged assholes. I am a trans man myself and watching that video made my blood boil.

  7. Autumn Sandeen March 26, 2011 at 4:38 pm #

May we crosspost this to Pam’s House Blend, with a link back to the original piece?

Thank you in advance for considering,
    ~~Autumn Sandeen~~

    • Grace Alexis March 26, 2011 at 5:20 pm #

      Yes you absolutely may.

      • Autumn Sandeen March 26, 2011 at 9:28 pm #

        May I do an edit?

        This is what you wrote:

Most if not all of the above quotes from the video discussion have been and are currently being used against the Gay community to marginalize them and prevent them from gaining equality in this country, where you can legally have sex and “snowball” semen or vaginal fluid with someone of the same sex. Now the gay community has co-opted those ignorant talking points to marginalize the Transsexual community.

I’d like to edit that to state this, which is less broad brush:

Most if not all of the above quotes from the video discussion have been and are currently being used against the Gay community to marginalize them and prevent them from gaining equality in this country, where you can legally have sex and “snowball” semen or vaginal fluid with someone of the same sex. Now Israel Luna, a member of that marginalized gay community, has co-opted those ignorant talking points to marginalize the Transsexual community.

From my perspective, it’s not the entire gay community that is stating what Brad Luna stated on his show — it’s just Israel Luna…a member of the gay subcommunity of the LGBT community who should know better.

      • Autumn Sandeen March 26, 2011 at 9:29 pm #

Oops — Not Brad Luna. I meant Israel Luna.

      • Grace Alexis March 26, 2011 at 9:31 pm #

yes, absolutely. i do like to generalize lol.
        feel free to change that.

      • Autumn Sandeen March 26, 2011 at 9:50 pm #

Okay, it’ll post on PHB tonight at 7:00 PM PDT.

I’m adding to the bottom of the piece the comment from Israel Luna that’s in this comment thread.

Seriously, I can’t imagine why any transgender person, any transsexual person, or any person who identifies as both transgender and transsexual would want Israel Luna speaking for them at this point. He’s a horrible representative of the gay subcommunity of the LGBT community, and should be treated as such.

I am stunned at the LACK of knowledge these three people have, and if Im not mistaken, a few might be gay ;) The comment “Shes not a true transsexual cause she hasnt had the surgery” made my heart skip a beat, then the “The birth certificate is a original document and shouldnt be changed” made it about stop…..
All I can say without cursing is… I would love for these three to come meet me and my friends, all transsexuals and do this interview again….

I think it’s pretty sad when we have to inform members of the LGBT Community about the LGBT Community. To me this just shows lack of education when it comes to transgender issues, but we don’t need members of our community who have a public forum such as a radio show openly discriminating against our community and that’s exactly what this is. I believe the biggest problem is that whenever our government discusses gay issues they fail to realize that the transgender community is part of the LGBT Community which is why we continue to have to fight for our own rights and voices to be heard.

Whatever happened to standing in solidarity with your sisters and brothers in the community? They should be ashamed of themselves.

Having you on his show makes it possible for you to reach a good number of his regular listeners/viewers (I don’t know whether it’s radio or television – there are a lot of radio shows that keep video transcripts these days). I am sure you will do well – but if it turns out to be more of a debate, it would be best to bring references to the scientific studies with you so that it doesn’t turn into a he-said-she said kind of discussion.

The first big thing is to be prepared with references to that study from NGLTF and NCTE, “Injustice at Every Turn.” That will help cover the evidence of discrimination.

The big studies on the differences in brain development come in two groups – two papers that dealt with brain structures that date back to ca. 2000ish, and the two Australian papers that dealt with separate genetic predispositions.

I don’t have the citations immediately at my fingertips, but I am sure Zoe Brain does.

When they come at you on the “historical record” part – the key is to keep at them on the evidence that the record is a mistake. Otherwise, it’ll be like them pointing out how everyone knows that the Sun travels around the earth because it rises in the east and sets in the west – and if you only explain about the rotation of the earth without citing to the science it ends up as “he said/she said” and the listeners/viewers will just end up keeping to the popular notions without knowing that there really is evidence out there that we never really belong to the original sex.

        Good luck!!!

Actually you are incorrect about the use of a birth certificate. You need a birth certificate to obtain Social Security Disability Benefits. You need a birth certificate to get a job as proof of citizenship. In New York State transgender people are still denied the right to workplace protections. If and when GENDA is passed, then a transgender person goes for a job and needs a birth certificate to prove citizenship, why shouldnt’ they have the correct gender identity on their birth certificate. Gender identity does not depend on the physical appearance, gender identity is who a person is authentically.

Should a transgender woman dress as a man until she has sexual reassignment surgery? To belittle this woman with your disparaging remarks does not surprise me though because many gay men spew that same shit about all women, straight, lesbian, bi or transgender.

Just as gay, lesbian, and bisexual people should never require permission, acceptance, agreement, approval, understanding, tolerance or respect to have our constitutional rights, when people like you think that your approval, acceptance, agreement, tolerance, understanding or respect is required for this transgender woman to realize her rights you are the problem and I have a solution. Take your gay biased opinions about gender identity and shove them down your own trans-bashing throats and choke on them.

I want everyone to read this news story so you can see that what the gay men in that video degrading the transgender woman in New York is exactly the same as how str8s in Utah degraded a transgender woman there too – and where you will see too why a gender correct birth certificate is imperative.

Transgender Woman Mocked At Utah DMV, Forced To Scrub Off Makeup

Salt Lake City, Utah – Not a highlight of our state. On Thursday this week, a transgender woman entered a local DMV to renew her license only to find half the staff mocking and ridiculing her, including security forcing her to scrub off her makeup and pull her hair back before she could take her photo.
amber anderton, utah, salt lake, dmv, transgender

        Local hero Amber Anderton

Local resident Amber Anderton watched a horrifying scene play out in front of her this past Thursday at the DMV located at 1095 Motor Ave. (approx. 200 N 1000 W) in Salt Lake City, as a transgender woman sat down at the photo station to renew her license. “When the DMV worker looked at her,” says Amber, “he immediately left and got another employee, whispered in their ear and they both began laughing as they looked back at the woman. They both then went and got security who escorted the woman back to a supervisor’s office. When they came back out the woman was taken to the restroom where she had to scrub off her makeup and pull her hair back before they would let her take her license photo.”

Amber goes on to describe how the original two employees were seen walking from office to office, and several other employees came out to laugh and toss anti-transgender slurs around.

Mortified at what she was witnessing, 29 year old Amber approached the woman (who is remaining anonymous) and apologized for the treatment she was receiving. She asked if the woman planned on filing a complaint, but was told that although the abused woman as livid, “I really don’t want to cause a scene.” Amber than asked if she would allow Amber herself to make a complaint which the woman agreed to.

Marching up to the supervisor (who refused to identify more than his first name, John), Amber said, “How dare you treat people this way! Would you make any other woman take off her makeup to get her licensed removed?” The supervisor coldly responded that “That is not a real woman, it’s a man.”

These are the common and everyday persecutions and discriminations that our transgender brothers and sisters face on a daily basis. Remember it wasn’t too long ago that Amber Yust in California was sent a threatening letter by a DMV employee using her personal information.

Local Transgender Advocacy group “Tea Of Utah” tells us that as a whole, the Salt Lake DMV leadership has been very open to trainings on gender identity issues. But apparently the Fairpark location hasn’t gotten the message.

According to the Utah DMV website, the phone number for that location is as listed below. Do not let this story pass! And I want to give an enormous thank you to Amber Anderton, a citizen who stood up for what is right, and faced down the tyranny and bigotry of these DMV workers and made herself a hero.

wtg Skylar and Grace! Call this PR apology phony on that thinly veiled garbage he spewed. As for the John guy, he reminds me exactly of the group I referenced above. Every time he opens his mouth I hear a busy signal.

Ok you 2 intolerant hacks, we have heard your bs and arent buying it. Your disdain for the trans community is obvious even in your spin. I CANNOT WAIT until the next time either of you open your mouth about how people are intolerant to you as being gay. Expect to hear from O’Drillagin. Oh and nice hanging up on me during the call in.

Having watched both shows, and being a trans woman myself, this all seems to have gotten a bit out of hand, in my opinion. it seems to have been changed from what started out as a (allbeit one sided) discussuion about changing birth certificates, to a personal attack, I think addressing the issue and educating about the problems encouted with birth certificates is far more prodcutive than any personal attack on somebody. BUT… before you get upset at me saying that- please read on..

yes the first show was 1 sided, hindsight is a wonderful thing, but it doesn´t exist completely for any of us. Yes, also it was a silly mistake for them to run the show without having done the research first.

Grace- I think you have done well to get that second show, and educate some who were before unknowing about the issues that can come up from birth certificates, so well done.

Diamond Stylz- well done to you too- very good point about gender, and the gender people are, even before they begin transition, an obvious point that is so easily overlooked, yet so simple to understand- once spoken.

Its clear there was alot of disapointment- from myself too, but I do also feel some disapointment from the second show- from the trans side at the personal attacks rather than addressing the issue at hand.
I don´t feel that if someone attacks me, that I should retaliate in the same manner. (ps- that goes more toward the last caller on the second show)
If…. if personal attacks happen, shows like this will me less willing to bring up these discussions, and any topics like this, will be avoided. I hope that doesn´t happen.

anyway- I hope any lost faith in anyone has been restored, and an important lesson can be learnt from this for everyone, which ever side of the fence they are on.
It is clear to see that people can be open to discusion, it just takes a little listening, from both sides…. Respect from me, to everyone involved in that second discussion. If only it always turn out so well. we can but dream, and step by step, with people like yourselves, were moving forward.

Steph, thank you for your very rational and reasonable point of view. It would be easy for me to say, “I am not Skylar (my business partner and the last caller on his show) so I can’t speak for her, but again that would be easy and I don’t use that excuse. I think it’s safe to say that I can speak for her on this point. It’s very difficult to offend Skylar, but as she listened to what John said and how he stood by what he said, his manner and demeanor clearly indicated that his “apology” was insincere. Skylar isn’t as diplomatic as I am, which is why we are a good team, and she just wasn’t having it any more. In my view it was warranted, It’s not my style, but what she said was right and spot on.
Steph, again thank you so much for listening. Unfortunately I have to report that Israel as of today Friday the 1st of April, Israel Luna still doesn’t get it. After personally documenting a transition for five years, after countless attempts to educate him, he still doesn’t get it. I don’t think he ever will.

Thanks for the reply Grace :-)

I can completely see the point of view, and I 100% agree about his body language, I think the subject just really didn´t interest him in any way what so ever- but thats his right I guess- perhaps not professional, but I guess in a sense being completely honest, is as sincere as you can get, I also agree abut his apology, but I see his apology as apologising that it upset someone, and not that he was apologising for what he said, he stands by that, and thats fine too.

I think from the discussion, second discussion, and I can see it was brought up in the first, that that they do agree that YES it should be OK to change gender on ducuments- there is no argument against that, from anyone.
going back to the main subject, it seems they were against changing history, and permanently destroying any knowledge that someone was once physically something else.
I think IF they had done their homework, and they knew that even though changing a birth certficate is not completely destroying history, and with a court order, the knowledge about someones past can be had, the original discussion could well have turned out differently. Who knows.
John is after all entitled to his opinion, as are we.
we or them, never really do know the difficulties things can cause, until someone goes through it themselves. Its a shame, but…… erm, yes, now im lost- what was I saying? :-)

perhaps we put too much into thinking that the LGTB whole will understand, I mean… sure they understand discrimination, but not really on the same daily scale, I wouldn´t expect them to understand personally, its nice to think they do, and we can all use their support, of course.

I hope you can all be friends, and continue to discuss these subjects, and go forward in understanding. Mainly- I hope discussions can continue on hot subjects, if they become too hot, people will find it harder to understand, and see it just as entertanment.
Good luck, and again, well done :-)

I am a Transsexual. I have seen this film. For the life of me, I cannot understand why anyone would be offensive by this fiercely enjoyable, campy trannyfest. Perhaps if you are not a fan of cult classics like I Spit On Your Grave and The House at the Edge of the Park, you are unaccustomed to the format of this genre, but I feel this film does a service to the Transgender community. First it normalizes us in public media, second it shows we can laugh at ourselves and be truly equal to all of society and lastly, it is a decent entry to the vengeance exploitation genre. To be honest, as a fan of this genre, this film lacks a little in the final scenes, but it is made up for by how loveable, charming, and infectiously entertaining the trannies are. Stereotypical, but totally authentic, it absolutely makes for a worthwhile movie gathering. For a film to distinguish the difference between transsexuals, crossdressers, transvestites, and such with a meaningful message, you’ll need to look elsewhere. For a damn fun film that doesn’t cause anyone any harm, Ticked Off Trannies With Knives is excellent! Perhaps its time for the transsexual community to stop feeling so sorry for themselves and lighten up.

But I will also say calling it a film about empowerment is a crock of shit. Its a ploy to quell gay rebellion. Its a delicious, trashy vengeance exploitation flick. Nothing more, nothing less.
